Our Golden Oyster Popcorn Mushrooms recipe offers a crispy, delicious treat that’s perfect as an appetizer or snack. This dish features Golden Oyster mushrooms coated in a seasoned corn starch mixture, fried until golden brown, and finished with fresh Thai or Holy basil leaves. The result is a crunchy, savory snack with a unique flavor twist that’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

  • 1/2lb Golden Oyster Mushrooms, broken into pieces
  • 6tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder
  • Neutral oil for frying
  • fresh Thai or Holy basil leaves

Directions

  1. Mix corn starch, salt, and Chinese 5 spice in a bowl
  2. In a large bowl, toss mushroom pieces in the starch mixture.
  3. Heat enough neutral oil in a large pan to submerge mushrooms
  4. When oil is very hot, place mushrooms in oil, fry for 4-5min or untillightly browned,
  5. Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Add basil to oil, be careful of back splash.
  7. Combine mushrooms and basil on a plate, salt and pepper to taste.
